Dance Program

The University of Wisconsin-Madison Dance Department is a hub of creativity and innovation in the field of dance. With a focus on contemporary dance and the study of somatic practices, ballet, and cultural dance, the department emphasizes the development of well-rounded dance artists who can thrive in a global and technological community. Through rigorous study of conceptual frameworks, history, and critical theory, students are challenged to think critically and live creatively, while also engaging with local and global communities. The department offers BFA and BS degrees in Dance, as well as certificates in Dance, Dance/Movement Therapy, and Pilates.
